Nestled in the middle of the Kisumu slum, surrounded by poverty, hunger, and disease, stands a small oasis of hope.  The Jones and Ringroad Community Health & VCT Project in Kisumu, Kenya stands ready to start serving this community.   The VCT (Voluntary Counseling and Testing) center will help to provide confidential HIV/AIDS testing, counseling and resources.   A container of supplies is on its way from Houston, Texas, loaded with medical supplies, equipment and furniture for the VCT and books for the neighboring Ringroad Orphans Day School.

2 months ago Christian Relief Fund (CRF), Rapha International and Straightway shipping came together to make this shipment possible.  As CRF’s first container to ship to Africa, there was a lot to learn about the process.  Due to the experience and guidance of Rapha International, we were able to slowly put it all together.  A lot of work goes into securing and documenting the correct supplies.  After almost 2 months of gathering these important supplies and equipment, the empty container was dropped off at Rapha on June 19th and skillfully loaded for 5 hours.  At 1pm the truck pulled out with our supplies on their way to bringing hope to a community where 1 in 5 are infected with HIV/AIDS.  The estimated arrival date at the port of Mombasa is July 24th.  Please continue to pray for its safe arrival in Kisumu.
